RSM SUSTAINABILITY FORUM 2013

PARTNERING FOR SUSTAINABILITY

LOOKING FOR A CAREER? CHOOSE A SUSTAINABLE ONE

24 MAY: 13.30 - 19.00H, INNTEL HOTEL, ROTTERDAM

Partnerships between public sector, private sector and civil society have become increasingly prominent during the past years. The three sectors are acknowledged to be interdependent, and the objectives of one sector can often only be achieved in partnership with participants from the other sectors. Partnerships are supposed to create a ‘collaborative advantage’ by generating additional knowledge and resources.

Participate in inspiring workshops given by internationally renowned companies like Unilever, Cargill, KLM, Eneco and PostNL that have designed partnerships to accelerate towards (more) sustainable business.

Moreover, we’ve got 2 fantastic key-note speakers for you:

PROF. DR. MICHAEL BRAUNGART

For two decades, Prof. dr. Michael Braungart has pioneered a system of innovation known as Cradle to Cradle. He co-authored (with William McDonough) the bestselling book of the same name, and has lectured at numerous universities in Europe, America and Asia. His expertise has been published in numerous international magazines and journals, and inspired companies to change their ways of working. Michael will also host one of the workshop.

DR. HERBERT SMORENBURG

EMBA Alumnus Herbert Smorenburg recently joined Schuttelaar & Partners as Strategic Advisor and works on projects in the area of food, nutrition and public-private partnerships. Previously, Herbert worked for 17 years with Unilever in product development and nutrition & health. His last positions were Nutrition and Health Director Europe and Director Unilever Health Institute Africa, for which he was based in Ghana and South Africa. Herbert has extensive experience in building bridges between social, political and/or economic developments and business interests and brings stakeholders on board with vision and passion.

On 8 Feb, it’s Warme Truien Dag (Warm Sweater Day) in the Netherlands, a national initiative that calls for people to turn the heating down, 1 or 2 degrees, in order to save energy and to increase awareness about heating and the energy that turning on the heater costs. See www.warmetruiendag.nl

The STAR Reach Out committee (undergraduate student organization http://www.rsmstar.nl/) pitched the idea of participating and it has been approved to make it a EUR-wide initiative.

That means that on 8 Feb, on the entire campus, the heating will be turned down with 1 or 2 degrees so wear your warm sweater!!

THIS SPRING SEES THE ACTRESS, SINGER AND INTERNATIONAL STYLE ICON STAR IN THE CONSCIOUS COLLECTION CAMPAIGN.

Vanessa Paradis is the face of the Conscious collection at H&M this spring, wearing pieces in the campaign that are both on-trend and sustainable. The actress and singer looks stunning in a ruffle-edged yellow sundress, as well as an embellished jacket paired with botanical print trousers. The full women's collection will be available in-store and online from late March, alongside Conscious collections for men – blazers, chinos, Ikat print shirts and shorts – plus fun prints for kids and babies. "I like being part of something like the Conscious collection at H&M,” says Vanessa. “I try my best, and vintage is very much part of my wardrobe. I love the style and it works in an eco-friendly way because I like to use and reuse old clothes."

Coinciding with the Conscious campaign will be the launch of a garment collecting action in H&M stores. Customers in all markets will be able to bring any unwanted garments from any label to selected stores.
