We would once again like to thank all our contestant who participated in the Hofbogen Project held on the 10th of November. We, as board, really enjoyed the entire day, and we were happy to see that not only the contestants enjoyed themselves but also the speakers and the organizing committee. Having that said, we would also like to thank our committee which helped set up this amazing event. At the end of the day we had one team that went home with the best idea prize. They came up with a unique idea to change the entire Hofbogen area into a greenhub named: "New Green Theme Park". This park included a brewery, a hostel, a nursery, a bike storage system, and many more unique sustainable stations. Even with this great design, the team (team 9) was very surprised to hear that they had won the challenge, however this didn't dampen the joy. Once again congrats to the winning team, team 9 including: Tessa van Doesburg, Arthur van Doesburg, Ruben Smits, Marius Dam, and Sheelagh Bouvier.
You can read their entire story and see more photo's under the heading Hofbogen 2014 placed in the Project/Events section.
Have you ever had a brilliant idea but no one has ever paid attention to it or has implemented it into practice? Do you want to jump out of the box? And do you want to get to know students from different universities and academic backgrounds? Now you get a chance to make it real!
Green Rooftops are a hot topic in Rotterdam. The aim of the the Green Rooftops Challenge is to come up with the best plan for the rooftop of the Hofbogen, which is currently an unused railway. The basic requirement is to make it green! This is the chance for you to make your plan come true. Supported by the municipality of Rotterdam, you will be inspired by interesting speakers and brainstorm new ideas together with students from other Dutch universities. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 10th of November. Lunch is included and after the event there will be time for a drink. After the speeches from the speakers in the morning, you will have the chance to work in a team with other students from different universities and backgrounds and brainstorm on a new plan for the rooftop together. At the end of the event, you will share your ideas with the other teams, the municipality of Rotterdam and potential investors of the Hofbogen project. Perhaps your plan will be picked up and finally come true! Most importantly, the winning team wins travel tickets to Paris!
